Went to Ikea this morning. The store opens at 10 but their restaurant opens at 9am!

Didi wanted to go and having scolded him last night I thought I should make up for it…

Meatballs for breakfast! They have bao and siew mai and french toast but this is only 1.50

The quietest I've ever seen Ikea.

While he was playing I wandered around the store. This side table is quite nice! Best of all you can carry it around easily.

What a nice piece of news to see in the morning!

From this….

To this!

Check out her Instagram Quaintbaby_ultrasoundart.

And this was an angel baby 😒 but I'm so glad the mom has something beautiful to remember her by.

.

On our way for a girls only outing!

Hiding in the shade while the girls play happily.

I think out of 10 people here, 7 are not Singaporean. Maybe because this place is touristy? But this waterplay area is quite fun!

And I think HFMD will get washed away *wishful thinking*

Midweek hump. Woke up ok but got angsty when Didi was playing and kept stepping on the puzzles/Books etc.

I HATE PEOPLE MISTREATING BOOKS! I only have 2 rules for books:
1. No leaving them on the floor
2. No stepping on them.

Is it so hard to follow??

Breathe deeply.

😑 I think what gets my goat is that you have to pay parking for school holidays too as well.

Yes it's only 15 but seriously, when you're spending extra time at school for the sake of your students they ask you to cough up season parking?

I mean teachers aren't earning the most already why do you want to squeeze so much out of them??

Reading while eating lunch. Can't fault her because I'm doing the exact same thing haha

Tax season is upon us! Got these super useful info graphics from Seedly Facebook group, who in turn got them from our friendly IRAS

#dayremummies for info.

I claimed for my first child because I was still working then πŸ˜₯

NOW NO MORE INCOME ALREADY

For those who have parents relying on them or have retired.

Term 2 week 1 is over. It's been a struggle getting them back to school – even though we stay near(ish) waking up at 6am is a torture. 😭 what can I say? We're just not morning people…except the Husband.

Now it's Saturday and I'm so sleepy at 11am and I just want to nap but can't because my MIL is cooking at my place and I can't be the lazy DIL who swans off to do my own thing and leave her to slog haha. So I have to 忍!

And drink tea…

*slurp* this is what my MIL was cooking today – pork trotters! I love the sauce but not the fatty parts. This was my favorite during confinement but for obvious reasons we can't eat it daily πŸ˜…

Wish I could cook like her, but it would take a lot of discipline and hard work so er…not now

My youngest brother likes buying games and he passed me this to play with my kids.

It's quite easy to pick up, but the youngest is a sore loser haha. Had to let him win. And then after that he didn't want to play anymore. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

When I first saw it on my Facebook feed I thought it was one of those satirical trailers. But it's a real movie?!!!!

(Watched it on mute but with subtitles on so I'm not sure what the vibe is supposed to be? Depressing? Uplifting? Creepy night nanny?)

But I love Charlize Theron she's so beautiful…maybe I'll drag The Husband to watch it, but but, why do I want to relive those years???πŸ˜‚

#dayremummies if anyone watches it please review!

kid books, life and death

Borrowed this title from the library yesterday. I liked the illustrations and the clean look of the book. I thought it would be a sweet book about a boy playing with his grandfather, maybe a guessing game etc. Didn't bother flipping through it because I was with No2 and we were in a hurry.

BOY WAS I WRONG.

It starts off with
"Grandpa died the other day."

😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

So "what happens next" is actually the grandpa's thoughts about life after death.

😱😱😱😱😱😱

I'm a Christian, so I believe that after we die we will go to Heaven and meet with Jesus.

So while looking through the book with the youngest, I had to keep reiterating what the Bible says about death and heaven.

Good thing he can't read ha

This comes from a Buddhist? Shinto? perspective. It talks about reincarnation (the grandpa imagines a "rebirth centre") and what things he will be happy to be "reborn as".

He also talks about meeting gods and what he would do with them, and how Heaven will be like.

This part made me tear. We will indeed be reunited with our loved ones in heaven. And meantime on earth we must spread the gospel so that nobody will be outside the kingdom of God.

Hell is a terrible place. It won't be just discomfort, but eternal torment.

All in all, it was a good book to spark a conversation about death and heaven with my youngest. I'm glad he could tell me what heaven would be like "GOLD!" and that we wouldn't need to bring anything with us because we would have perfect bodies and no more tears.

And it also serves as a reminder to me that I need to teach my children about what the Bible says, so that they won't go looking for answers elsewhere.

We are their guide and God's word our light!

But I will DEFINITELY flip though the books before borrowing them next time πŸ˜‚

Another book I got was "The Big Adventure of a Little Line" by Serge Bloch.

This is more whimsical and about a boy and a red line he finds on the street one day.

It accompanies him throughout his life and goes on adventures with him. At the end, he snips off a little bit of it and leaves it on the road for others to find.

Once again I think this book is about "LIFE" (cue deep voice saying it with expression)

Is this red line the "纒线” that Chinese believe is our life line? And as we grow older, it gets longer but also there is a time to let go?

The book ends with a picture of the girl and the red line drawn by a pen.

I feel like this has some "deeper meaning".

Sigh all these books by non English writers are so deep and give me a headache.

At least the boy just listened, laughed at funny bits and then wandered off to do his own thing.

I'm still here thinking too much about kid's books…

Back to school runs!
Woke up at 530 but went back to sleep at 7 haha.

Here's to a more productive term!

Auntydom level up.
I bought the Galbani cheese cos I thought the pizza board was quite ok, then the promoter told me if I buy 4 packets he will throw in extra cheddar.

So I bought 4 packets of mozzarella/emmental and went back with my receipt. He gave me 2 packs with cheddar and asked "ε€Ÿε—?"

I said ε¦‚ζžœζˆ‘θ―΄δΈε€Ÿζ€ŽδΉˆζ ·
Then he told the auntie to give me one more packet. This promo is crazy!

(But also till today that's why I think he's so shuang kuai)

Total spent – 10.50 πŸ’ͺ

Oh but a caveat- the sample cheese is expiring this month. That's why it's so cheap.
